چکیده

Hucho taimen (Pall.) is one of the largest salmonid species, and has been classified as an endangered species in China since 1998. In recent years, its wild stocks, habitats, and spawning grounds have been severely damaged by environmental degradation and human intervention. To protect and exploit this treasured species effectively and sustainably, the genetic diversity and structure of taimen populations in China was investigated using AFLP, microsatellite markers, and partial sequences of mtDNA genes. This paper summarizes these studies on the genetic diversity and structure of taimen populations in China.

The development of pharyngeal taste buds in Hucho taimen (Pallas, 1773) larvae

This study aims to investigate the relationship between the development of pharyngeal taste buds (TBs) and first feeding of Hucho taimen. Larvae were fed with live food (water flea and tubifex) for 8 weeks. TBs of larval pharynx were histologically examined using light microscopy during the rearing experiment. The results showed that the first few TBs primordia were visible within the pharynx 2...

De novo assembly and characterization of the Hucho taimen transcriptome

Taimen (Hucho taimen) is an important ecological and economic species that is classified as vulnerable by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species; however, limited genomic information is available on this species. RNA-Seq is a useful tool for obtaining genetic information and developing genetic markers for nonmodel species in addition to its application in gene expression profiling. In this stu...

Mitochondrial DNA Variation and Introgression in Siberian Taimen Hucho taimen

Siberian taimen Hucho taimen is the largest representative of the family Salmonidae inhabiting rivers of northern Eurasia. The species is under intensive aquaculture activity. To monitor natural taimen populations we have sequenced a portion (8,141 bp) of the mitochondrial (mt) genome in 28 specimens of H. taimen from six localities in the Amur River basin. Nucleotide variability is low (π = 0....

Complete Mitochondrial Genomes of the Cherskii’s Sculpin Cottus czerskii and Siberian Taimen Hucho taimen Reveal GenBank Entry Errors: Incorrect Species Identification and Recombinant Mitochondrial Genome

The complete mitochondrial (mt) genome is sequenced in 2 individuals of the Cherskii's sculpin Cottus czerskii. A surprisingly high level of sequence divergence (10.3%) has been detected between the 2 genomes of C czerskii studied here and the GenBank mt genome of C czerskii (KJ956027). At the same time, a surprisingly low level of divergence (1.4%) has been detected between the GenBank C czers...

Serum Immunoglobulin M (IgM) in Sakhalin Taimen (Hucho perryi): Purification, Characterization, Circulating Levels, and Specific IgM Production by the Parasitic Salmincola stellatus

Immunoglobulin M (IgM) was purified from the serum of Sakhalin taimen (Hucho perryi) by salting-out, ion-exchange chromatography on DEAE-cellulose, and gel filtration on Sepharose 6B. The intact, tetrameric taimen IgM has a mass of 750 kDa with molecular architecture typical of IgM from other salmonids. The molecular weights of heavy (μ) chain and light chains (L) of the IgM monomer were estima...
